During Contact in the Desert it was my experience that several airlines across the entire United States began delaying multiple flights for what was termed “weather” related phenomenon. Although some airlines use to provide compensation and accommodation if a flight was severely delayed or cancelled, therefore forcing an overnight, companies like United have revoked these give-aways claiming that weather is not their fault and so the customer must pay out of pocket for any inconvenience.
What seemed strange to me, though, was when I realized that United claims they could not fly into SFO because of fog. Although my plane to this airport was delayed several times on my way to and returning from CITD, other planes of the same size left at the same time and flew to SFO without incident. Interestingly enough, on the final flight back, which was cancelled, a United pilot said that the runways into SFO were mostly closed and only one in and our were operational. Now if the airline could not fly into SF because of bad fog, why does that only apply to some planes, especially when the other planes leaving for that airport were the same size as mine.
In starting to do some initial research it was obvious the claims of the airport that unspecified, or multiple variations in specified reports (too much fog, wind, etc), of weather, were inconsistent and that something else was possibly responsible. Then a story came to mind, a report from 2011 about the Tampa Bay International Airport closing and then renaming its main runway due to extreme movement of the magnetic north pole. Prior to my trip I also covered a story about the magnetic field of the Earth drifting westward.
It is well known the planet’s northern magnetic pole is drifting slowly towards Russia, but it never drifts more than a few degrees each year, and especially not so quickly as to force a runway adjustment and closure. The 2011 incident also cause runway changes at the Tampa Bay Peter O. Knight airport. The busiest runway at TBI was designated 19R/1L from its previous designation 18R/36L, indicating an alignment along the 180-degree approach from the north and the 360-degree approach from the south.
These headings are broken up as follows: one end is a certain degree off of north, counting clockwise and the other end is a certain degrees off.
This change also occurred at the Wichita Eisenhower National Airport in SE Kansas. Runways 1L/19R, 1R/19L, and 14/32 were renamed 2L/20R, 2R/20L, and 15/33. The same occurred at the Oakland International airport in 2013, with runways changed from 27, 28, and 30. In 2009, the same occurred at the UK’s Manchester International airport – 6L/24R became 5L/23R.
Since the airlines claimed the massive delays and cancellations were because of “weather” they did not pay out for hotels or food. I spoke to at least a dozen people from all over the US, including one of the speakers, who was delayed because of a light rain shower in NC, and several other people experienced the same thing that I did at the airport.
There have been several “computer glitches” over the previous few years with American Airlines; one occurring around Christmas of 2017 and another more recent as this show as being prepped, on June 15, 2018, from Charlotte NC.
My thoughts are that perhaps these delays, cancellations, “computer glitches,” etc. are somehow connected to the “booms,” or at least some of them by way of electromagnetic disturbances from solar activity. This is prompting quicker shifts in the magnetic pole movement, therefore altering runway numbering, and also triggering geological upheavals, from earthquakes to volcanic eruptions.

They include Mount St. Helens, whose spectacular 1980 eruption in the Pacific Northwest killed dozens of people and sent volcanic ash across the country, and massive Mount Rainier, which towers above the Seattle metro area
